If you’ve been following you know I’ve been working on posse since early August. First developed for personal projects under an OSS license, I’ve taken it to work to use with my authorized work runtime, IBM Bob.
The posse harness at Work
So the setup now is the work posse is working in one posse and one beads directory and using IBM Bob, specifically the CLI version of Bob to work on my work projects, which I wont get into detail here. I will say this has increased my consumption rate at work by an easy 10x, but also my output on a mix of things ranging from administrative to troubleshooting to building and rearchitecting some things.
Here’s how its working today, when I have time to supervise things, I have the work laptop filing issues and feature requests through github issues. The personal posse is working through those issues and filing improvements working on a release. they dont need to talk to each other, except through github issues. Classic upstream/downstream, but at a pretty fast pace when I have tokens. When I dont, it shuts down pretty quick, and I did end up with a long quiet period that gave me a chance to try out Grok.
Grok 4.7 in the runtime
Running out of tokens on Claude gave me a chance to sub in Grok to work on some things, and I can tell you Grok handled the substitution beautifully. The harness process of design-build-review-ship caught any rough patches, and the main problem areas were weirdness in how the harnesses reacted being inside a herdr harness.
I did not try codex for a week, but Im sure the openai models are equally as capable.
Fable to Opus 5.5
Ive been a fan of Fable since June, but Fable still is extremely hard on the usage credits, and so I’ve been giving Opus 5.5 a try and I am very satisifed with the results of Opus as a daily driver. If you need to stretch out your sub, def give Opus a try.
In the news
Im following the big story of the artcraft project, building photoshop, lightroom and now Microsoft Office. Many DMs and F2F chats are bringing this up organically. Yes its feeding the software industry existential crisis, but I think its at this point already baked in. I expect continued downward pressure on legacy software sales, but inertia and trust will carry most things for another year or two. I think we have time to figure things out.
Flying cars, Robots, self-driving, all of these are on AI story if you crack the hood. in order to fly, the Tesla Roadster needed two things, to borrow the reaction control system from spacex and enough training data to get a very localized model to use those thrusters to fly safely.
Muse, Dots, Grok Bot all getting a lot of headlines, and for good reasons. It builds on the openclaw hype, which I still think is real and the way to go. As good as Muse is, I want to own my autonomous agent, as much as possible top to bottom. Similarly. the next goal at work is autonomous agents, for that we need a platform, identity and something safe for it to work on. working on all three. Obviously we cant and wont use the proliferating frontier agents at work either. So I see Muse as showing the art of the possible but last thing we need here is Facebook building another walled garden.
Busy week ahead! much more to come.
